Ohio’s First Dispensary Opens & Thousands Of Patients Have Been Approved!

Ohio finally had it’s FIRST Ohio Medical Marijuana Dispensary receive it’s operational license last week!  CY+ (pronounced “see why plus”) is the name of the first fully licensed dispensary and it is located at 180 Main Street, Wintersville, Ohio.  It is on the Pennsylvania border near Pittsburgh.  CY+ is part of the Cresco Labs family of licenses.

Cresco Labs is based out of Chicago & is now one of the largest vertically integrated, multi-state cannabis operations in the United States.  It also received a Tier 1 Cultivation license in Yellow Springs, Ohio and has built out a 50,000 sqft facility to grow medical grade cannabis for Ohio’s new medical marijuana program.

“Receiving the first approval to operate is a major milestone in the transformation of the cannabis program in Ohio,” said Charles Bachtell, CEO of Cresco Labs. “This is also a big step forward for Cresco along our path of unparalleled speed to market, powerful influence in industry development, and proven execution in consumer markets.”

The Wintersville dispensary features private, one-on-one consultation areas where patients can feel comfortable discussing their conditions or symptoms and exploring the appropriate medical marijuana products. Products offered will range from edibles, vape pens and cartridges to oral sprays, pills, and transdermal patches. Video footage of the new dispensary can be downloaded and viewed here.

We will continue to add all 56 licensed Ohio Medical Marijuana Dispensaries to our Dispensary Directory.

Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Patient Portal has gone live!

The Ohio medical marijuana patient & caregiver portal has now been open for 2 weeks and thousands of patients have been added to the registry & thousands have been fully approved!

As of this writing, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program has received 3,460 recommendations to the patient & caregiver registry.  Out of those with a recommendation, 2,170 have fully activated their registry card.

After a long 2.5 years, Ohio is finally on it’s way to having a fully functioning medical marijuana program.  We should see Hocking College get its operational license this week too and be the first lab to start testing Ohio grown, medical marijuana.  A lab with it’s operational license is the final piece before cultivators & processors can start packaging up the first round of medical marijuana in Ohio.  Once their products come back from the testing labs and are approved for distribution, we should see product on shelves across Ohio inside of 60 days at this point, possibly 30.
